I am cold. And kind of bitter too.

It is about 12 degrees here in Indianapolis and I am heading to Sioux Falls SD where it will be minus “a whole bunch” with a wind chill of “I want to die.” Last night it was 19 BELOW.

If my rented Ford Focus won’t start I may become a Reader’s Digest story.

I am on the road this week…pitching and visiting with political-types in 3 states. 3 really cold states.

I started my week with one suit, 2 shirts and enough underwear and socks for a 2 days — out and back. But then South Dakota came calling and it didn’t make sense to spend $1300 to come home for a few hours so I washed out my personals in the sink and I am heading west tonight.

I bought some overpriced jeans and one of those single-guy striped shirts that all the cool kids wear…and a “cash”mere skull cap (only one they had) to protect my own personal RCA Dome from frostbite. I even splurged and spent the extra $7 on an upgraded room at the lovely Sioux Falls Holiday Inn.

I am bitter and cold.

But this weekend will be perfect in Ponte Vedra… And I need to work and get out of the house so I don’t drive my wife any more nuts than she already is…

Miss my kids. Love my family. Home soon.

St. Augustine lighthouse

Sorry we haven’t posted much lately. Just been busy enjoying the beautiful weather here in PV. Had a day off school today so drove down to St. Augustine with mom and Sarah and the kids and visited the lighthouse. Mom survived the 214 steps to the top of the lighthouse. It was a beautiful day and we could see the intra coastal as well as the ocean and St. Augustine – well worth the trek up. We then had some pizza for lunch and did a little shopping before we headed home. A nice, low key way to spend the day. Looking forward to having friends and family visit in March and April. p.s. Summer’s got a double ear infection. Last week she ate a bag of chocolate chips – this dog will be the death of us!!! She’s a trooper though and a great part of our family. Now I just need to keep her out of the pool for a week.

Hey there – just a brief note about the kiddos. They both played in their first “grand prix” this weekend and did great. Ethan came in second place in his age group after a tight match that went to a tie break. Anna went through the whole day without losing to anyone, but still ended up playing for 3rd place and winning due to the points I’m sure this won’t be our last one of these, they both enjoyed it. That’s about it for now! J
