Another beautiful day here in PV

Hadn’t written in a while, just thought we’d let you know that we’re all doing well with the exception of Anna & Ethan fighting off colds.

Nothing exciting going on here, just another pretty day. Sunny, light breeze and in the low 60’s. Sortof like a clear spring day in Ohio. A little tennis, a little golf, kids at school – all is well. Looking forward to the beginning of the northern migration when friends and family start to visit during March and April. We always enjoy having house guests, so remember us when you’re traveling to Florida! J

We had a great weekend at Disney with our friends Scott, Jill, Sami & Tyler from Columbus. Unfortunately it was pretty blustery and chilly at Disney, but it still was warmer than Columbus!

Did the Magic Kingdom the first day and then went to Disney/MGM (or Hollywood Studios as they now call it). Ethan decided to ride the tower of terror and loved it. Sam, Anna & I rode the rock & roll roller coaster 3x so we were able to get our coaster fix. Great to spend time with friends, sad to say goodbye – but nice to stay in touch.

Back to PV and had a low key day today – jumping back into school and everything else tomorrow. Waiting for the warm weather to come back!

Thanks for tuning in. :) J

“The happiest place on earth”

We’ve arrived at Disney – we’re staying at the Wilderness Lodge. We picked Sam up at the airport and headed over to the hotel. Sam was starving, after starting the day in Washington and not having eaten all day. We headed down to the Lodge’s main dining place “Whispering Canyon” and had a pretty funny dinner. Sam was exhausted and just wanted to nice, quiet dinner with us before we headed back to our room. Whispering Canyon didn’t quite live up to it’s name we soon discovered.

This fine dining establishment is one of those which enjoys being boisterous and loud. Sam was quite a good sport, especially when our ornery waitress brought out his drink in a foot and 1/2 tall glass with a straw and fruit on the top. Our food was ordered and when we asked for ketchup for the kids fries, the call went out – “KETCHUP!!!!!!!” and they kept yelling it till many bottles of ketchup were delivered to our table. The ketchup call continued throughout the dinner as other tables wanted the 20+ bottles that found their way to the needy tables.

Part way through the meal, one of the servers bumped into Sam’s shockingly blue drink and knocked it and it’s remaining contents to the floor. Thankfully a replacement was brought in a shorter, more stable glass – but we got to keep the fun glass to take home and make our guests use it by our pool. :) (Be ready Kyle, it’s ALL yours!)

Later in the meal they pulled out the microphone and called all the little kids up for a pony ride – complete with all the adults being asked to wave their napkins wildly around their heads while the kids galloped around the room. Sam, being the sport that he is – rolled with the punches and proceeded to wrap his napkin bandana style around his head. And no, unfortunately I didn’t have my ever present camera with me – between the rambo doo-rag and the blue drink and ketchup bottles, I think we could’ve had a fun shot.

Disney isn’t really up Sam’s alley, but he’s happy to be hanging out with the kids for the weekend – so all is well. My friend Jill and her kids came over tonight after dinner and we hung out and caught up – which is always a bonus. We head to the Magic Kingdom tomorrow and will see what “magic” it brings. :)

Signing off now. J

Disney Bound

After grandparent’s day at school today, we’re heading down to Orlando to pick up Sam from the airport (he’s been in DC) and we’re hanging in Orlando for the weekend. We’re meeting up with my “BFF Jill” from Ohio & her family who are there for the week. The kids are excited about seeing their friends again, as am I – and Sam is thrilled with hanging out with the unorganized, meandering masses at the theme parks :) OK, Sam’s just looking forward to hanging out with the family – and hopefully can help us navigate through everything else. Hope everyone has a good weekend!

A nice accomplishment – Anna received this award when she was in 4th grade also. We pray that both of them can continue in their growth. Great kids!

p.s. – Ethan got to skip the second half of school today and is golfing with Sam as a reward!

Had a great time in New Orleans. Sam golfed a bunch and he finally broke 80 – woo hoo!!!!

The kids & I (along with Carylee) toured the city and hit the spots. We went to the aquarium, the zoo and shopped.

We had a wonderful time – our friends Kyle, and Doug & Carylee came from Columbus, and Brett joined us from here in PV. Anna & Ethan had a blast experiencing “Buckeye Pride” and yelling OH – waiting to hear the IO from fellow fans.

The game was so much fun to prepare for and the excitement was great. We scored the first 10 points and were stoked, but of course – it all went downhill from there.

The kids were troopers and were totally good sports – in spite of hearing chants of “tiger bait”. We were so happy to have them with us. Now we just need to get to the next national championship and actually win!!!!

Had a great family weekend. J

Off to New Orleans!!!!

We’re leaving today to cheer on the Buckeyes to another National Championship – kids in tow. We’ll try to post and put up pictures of our weekend. Hopefully my heart won’t be broken 2 years in a row. At least Florida lost their bowl game to Michigan :)

On with the scarlet and gray!!! GO BUCKS! J
